IOSH Managing safely

It was great to be back in the saddle again recently with my first Managing safely course for some time.

It’s an excellent course, hard work but always enjoyable. And a great bunch of delegates – nine in total, mostly trades union safety reps – achieving an average end test result of 83% and with 4 getting results in the 90s. I’m happy with that.

IOSH Managing safely has become the de facto introduction to health and safety. Designed for managers and supervisors in any sector it can easily be extended to other positions such as safety reps. The course doesn’t turn delegates into safety experts but it does introduce them to some of the key elements of health and safety management that crop up on a daily basis in their work. The modules cover:-

Why is it important to manage health and safety?
Assessing risks
Controlling risks
Legal responsibilities
Identifying hazards
Investigating accidents and incidents
Measuring performance
Protecting the environment
