What’s it all about?
Getting line managers and supervisors to own health and safety is something that occupies the thoughts of many OSH professionals.
Many realise that it doesn’t happen by itself or just because it’s stated in a policy document or job description. Achieving ‘ownership’ and buy-in is something that needs to be negotiated, not as an all-encompassing concept but continually, issue by issue, and day by day as issues arise.
Often, it’s the OSH practitioner who, being the person on the ground, is best placed to facilitate this negotiation. The holy grail is a win-win solution, where the practitioner walks away confident that legal and other standards are being met, and the manager/supervisor is bought into the solution because it’s operationally sound in a way they can own and manage going forward.
Wholly in keeping with the Behavioural Competencies outlined in the IOSH Competency Framework, IOSH Approved Coaching for safety will equip you for facilitating these vitally important negotiations.

Module 8 Coaching skills session 1 (The coach practices GROW being person-centred)
Module 9 Active listening (Includes an active listening exercise)
Module 10 Coaching skills session 2 (The coach practices GROW, being person-centred and actively listening)
Module 11 Being solutions-focused
Module 12 Coaching skills session 3 (The coach practices GROW being person-centred, actively … you get the idea)
End Test Successful candidates receive an IOSH Certificate
